For what it's worth, you might try opening the files on another computer, and keep trying until you find one that opens it. I had a similar problem with some files I created at my old job and tried to open on the computer at my new job.

Also, can you see the files? If so, perhaps you could save them to your drive and open from there?

You could always just reinstall the old disk, too, and save the files another way. Or have someone install it as a slave on their system, and copy the files.
