Navyboys and Pirates
In fannish news, shiny new fandom is still shiny. I wrote six Hornblower fics since October. This makes it officially my second most proficient fandom after Harry Potter.
Apparently, all it took to get me hooked were pretty navyboys

exchanging soul-searching looks

and being angsty.
And so there's more navyboy porn:
TITLE: Fearless
AUTHOR: Donna Immaculata
RATING: NC-17
WORD COUNT: 3500
PAIRING: Horatio/Archie
DISCLAIMER: These are not my characters. I just take them out to play.
SUMMARY: The morning after; Archie angsts and Horatio is speechless.
NOTES: For
eglantine_br, who asked for a “second-time” fic. Consider it a birthday present. I didn’t know it was your birthday today until I saw
anteros_lmc’s post, but I have planned to post it today anyway and am now very pleased with my timing.
In other seafaring news: I watched Treasure Island with a couple of friends last week, and we had a blast. I can't say whether it's a good show, but it's got Eddie Izzard as a very charismatic Long John Silver - and that's all it takes to make me happy.

There's also some serious costume porn going on, Frodo goes mad and Gene Hunt is as masterful as ever.

Seriously, costumes. Who made them? They're fab.

As are the pirate haircuts

and teef.

Frodo goes mad

and wants cheese.

Gene Hunt tells everyone off

agrees to a parley with Action Transvestite Long John Silver

and is a leader of men.

Long John is seriously fabulous

and a father figure to the boy who comes of age and finds treasure.

Also, there's a parrot.
And after we had watched Treasure Island, one of my co-watchers outed herself as a fan of Age of Sail kind of movies. And so I told them about that one show I watched, with ships and battles and naval officers, and if all goes well, we'll be watching Hornblower together one of these days. They will totally pick up on the slash vibes. It will be brilliant.
This post has been brought to you by my period drama fetish that I discussed at length before.

HUZZAH! I'll look forward to reading this as soon as :)

*sigh* How could you resist?
We watched Treasure Island too and thought it was very stylish though I thought Squire Trelawny was terrible hard done by. Izzard is awesome as Silver but you're wrong about that being Gene Hunt. Every Hornblower fangirl knows that's Gunner Hobbs ;)

I know! It's impossible not to love them.
Treasure Island really was stylish. I loved the mad costumes. The only other version I'm familiar with is the Muppet film, and that didn't have Eddie Izzard in it.
Gunner Hobbs was so sending mixed signals, because I saw Gene Hunt and I couldn't believe he would let the snotty upstart boys talk to him like that ;-)

Completely impossible. I wrote "one" fanfic two years ago and I've been here ever since!

We concluded that Muppet Treasure Island was closer to cannon in many places XD Btw have you seen the fabulous Muppet Treasure Island / Hornblower vids?
Sailing for Adventure by
and
Roll Call by acouplanutcases
PS Still haven't had a chance to read your fic :( I took sneak pic at me desk at lunchtime but I want to save it until I can read it properly.

Thanks for the links to the vids! I ♥ the second one; earnest, sombre Horatio providing the background noises.

All of acoupleanutcases vids are brilliant. This is another one that crease me up every time XD

And I've never before noticed that Mr Bush licks his lips as he hands the spyglass to Archie. He, at least, seems to like straight people.

Shurely shome mishtake!

Eddie Izzard looks fabulous!

Eddie Izzard was amazing. I've seen him in other shows before, but I forgot how good an actor he is.
Oh, and I've only just noticed you've got an Apollo icon :-)
