JKR updated her FAQ page...

"BRANDON: Hey, Commander, uh. So, as I was saying... In "The Quasar Dilemma", you used the auxiliary of deck b... could you get this... deck b for Gamma override. The thing is that online blueprints indicate deck b is independent of the guidance matrix, so we were wondering where the error lies?

JASON: It's just a television show. Okay? That's all.

BRANDON: Heh heh... 'Cause we were wondering if the quantum flux, now just listen on this...

JASON: There IS no quantum flux and there IS no auxiliary... There's no goddamn ship! You got it?"
(Galaxy Quest, 1999)

What's this got with Rowling's FAQs? Um, nothing...

Absolutely! I adore him in that part. The way he delivers that "By Grabthar's hammer" line kills me dead. Every. Single. Time.

Have you watched the deleted scenes on the DVD? The tour of Dr. Lazarus's quarters is just hilarious.

"...You're very complicated, sir."

;-)

I've never watched it on DVD, alas! I really should, shouldn't I? If only to see a pissed-off Rickman roll his eyes at the idiocy surrounding him.

Oh, you must see the DVD, even if all you do is watch the deleted scenes! There's a wonderful bit of Alan acting that was cut from the rock-monster battle. After he bitches at Jason ("You were never serious about the craft!"), he goes on to try getting into the monster's thought-processes, "I am...a rock. I just want to be...a rock. Calm, still...but what's this? The vibrations!?! Pain! Must...stop...the vibrations!"

Hee! :-)

"You were never serious about the craft!" *snerk*

Alan truly got the best lines ever in this film.

*must... go... watch... deleted scenes*
