Musketeers fics

Brief update: Still writing in The Musketeers fandom.

Aramis still hot:
aramis smouldering

Title: Biomechanical Recordings [experimental, no subtitles]
Author: Donna Immaculata
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Aramis/Athos
Word count: 2,807
Summary/Notes: A hastily written PWP, because breathtaken, etoiledemer and mellyflori enabled me evilly, like the evil enableresses that they are, and demanded I write some kinky porn with feelings. So there we are.
Part of a projected but not-as-yet written modern AU, where they are all indie filmmakers in contemporary Berlin. Expect pretentious titles and popcultural references.

Title: In Corpore Sano
Author: Donna Immaculata
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Aramis, Athos, Porthos (Trois Mousquetaires)
Additional Tags: BROT3, Friendship, Hurt/Comfort, Shaving, Bathing/Washing, Linen’s Carnal Value
Summary: Aramis thinks he has to deal with the aftermath of Marsac’s death alone. Athos and Porthos disagree.
Notes: This is an extended scene of the last chapter of Ars Moriendi, but can be read as a stand-alone. It didn't fit the themes or the atmosphere of Ars Moriendi, which is why I wrote it as a separate fic.

The Musketeers fic: Ars Moriendi

I've finished my current Musketeers WIP. It's an attempt at a baroque ghost story and actually one of my favourite pieces of my own writing. I did proper historical research, incorporated literary and philosophical concepts of the baroque period, threw a buttload of psychological horror at Aramis, and didn't write any gratuitous porn. So yay.

Title: Ars Moriendi on AO3
Author: Donna Immaculata
Rating: Mature for disturbing themes
Characters: Aramis, Athos, Porthos, d'Artagnan; with a supporting cast of war refugees, honnêtes gens, Jesuits and one undead soldier, slightly soiled
Word count: 25,187
Summary: In the wake of Marsac's burial, Aramis doesn't sleep.
Notes: Inspired by the idea I’ve seen pop up in several places that Marsac would come back as a zombie, as evidenced by Aramis leaving the sword stuck in his grave for him. Despite the silly-sounding premise, this is not a crack fic - quite the contrary, actually.

Rating: Mature
Pairing: Aramis/d'Artagnan
Word count: 1991
Additional tags: Intercrural Sex, PWP, Erotic Asphyxiation
Summary: An unrepentant PWP and quickie born out of a how-on-earth-did-we-get-here? conversation with monamemonetoile about d'Artagnan escaping a hanging and getting shagged by Aramis against a tree. With the noose still around his neck.

Well, at least it's not porn this time. It's angst and horror instead, which I inflict on Aramis because I love him.

It's not my fault

So does anyone remember, back in the days when one was getting into the Harry Potter fandom and thought, naively, that all one would do would be reading some nice fics and perhaps writing some sweet Sirius/Remus, certainly none of that weird kinky stuff, thankyouverymuch, and then, six or twelve months later, one would find oneself at the PC (it was the dark ages) at 3am writing Hagrid/Giant Squid porn?

Yeah, that's kinda how I feel now.

I have not intended to get sucked into a new fandom, certainly not one where the main attraction of the source material is the hawtness of one of the leads, but here I am, writing The Musketeers porn like there's no tomorrow. How did that happen? I didn't even enjoy the show all that much.

And as if that wasn't enough, I am also being sucked into the Tumblr fraction of the fandom even as we speak, because I got a Tumblr two weeks ago (as donnaimmaculata, because that's my fannish identity and I stick with it) to look at pretty pictures, and have already been forced to get involved. Give me two more days, and I'll be reblogging Aramis gifs.

Because this is Aramis:
Aramis-Adele
They used all the cheapest tricks in the book to make him alluring. I see through these tricks with my hands tied behind my back, and yet they don't bother me. At all.

And so he gets all the porn. And the latest piece of porn is one of my most porniest yet. It is actually a character study, really, it is. A character study through the medium of porn.

Fics: Doctor Who & The Musketeers; in other news: Tumblr

So, I gave in and got myself a Tumblr. I'm donnaimmaculata there as well, because this is my preferred fannish identity on the Internets. Any of you available to be followed? I'm not sure if I will use the account actively, but I'd like to be able to look at pretty pictures. Oh, and if anyone has any tips as to tumblrs that one should follow, let me know.

Also, I wrote fic again. Doctor Who (because Ten is hot) and The Musketeers (because Aramis is hot). Yep, these are my fic-writing standards.

Title: the boy without a name was silent

Pairing: Jack/Tenth Doctor
Word count: 500

Title: A Good Soldier
Author: Donna Immaculata
Fandom: The Musketeers
Rating: NC-17/Explicit
Pairing: Aramis/Tréville
Word count: 4448
Spoilers: for episode 4
Summary/Notes: Written as answer to deacertes' prompt: I have this idea that Aramis doesn't really know what to do with himself after laying Marsac to rest. He trudges around in the rain for hours before finding himself back in Treville's office staring at the bloodstains on the floor. Which is where Treville finds him... I like my Treville toppy and caring

The thing got bloody long, because they just wouldn't stop angsting. But I managed to make them do sex in the end.

And just to reiterate: This is the sole reason I'm writing in The Musketeers fandom at all:

More Musketeers fics

Ah, fuck it. Here I am, happily posting fills for the bbcmusketeers kinkmeme anonymously, because it's more fun that way, and then I realise that I can't figure out how to post the next chapter in an anonymously posted work anonymously. And so I'm forced to reveal my name.

I'm currently amusing myself writing The Musketeers fics, and they're all Aramis-centric, because Aramis is the only reason I watched that show. He is very, very hot. I don’t care about any of the other characters (well, the King is deeply amusing), and I don’t care about the actor who plays Aramis or him in any other roles, but Aramis? I totally would, 17th century washing habits, syphilis and all.

Well, I’d give him a bath first and explain latex condoms, but then I would. Totally.

Title: Only Fools Rush In
Author: Donna Immaculata
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Aramis/d'Artagnan
Word count: 4516
Warnings: PWP, but a fluffy one
Summary: D'Artagnan considers himself pretty well experienced for his age. But then Aramis happens along, and it blows his mind.
Notes: Written for the kinkmeme, for the following prompt:

D'Artagnan considers himself pretty well experienced for his age, he's slept with a whole three people and one of them was a married woman (one was also an assassin but w/e he didn't know that at the time).

Except then he somehow ends up sleeping with Aramis (casual offer? part of OT4? love confession? Your call), and it blows his mind. It isn't just that Aramis knows how to do things that d'Artagnan hasn't even heard of, he's so assured and thorough and communicative and really, really dedicated to finding out exactly what works for his partner.

I just want d'Artagnan completely out of his mind with pleasure, and Aramis delighted at how responsive and appreciative he is.

Warnings: Angst, PTSD
Summary:
Chapter 1: Wherein Porthos and Aramis track down a man by order of the King.
Chapter 2: Wherein Marsac falls victim to a pagan god.
Chapter 3: Wherein Aramis conducts a lady to safety.
Chapter 4: Wherein Athos, Porthos and Aramis are having a gay old time.
Chapter 5: Wherein Milady entertains a gentleman caller.

There's, um, one more fic, but it's disturbed me so much that I'm keeping it anonymous for a while longer. Perhaps one day I will reveal that it's sprung from my clearly diseased brain.

The Musketeers fic: Danse Macabre

*delurks*

So, I've been wondering: is it worth getting a Tumblr account? Is that where fandom is taking place these days and where everyone has wandered off to? It's time to admit I'm totally out of the loop.

On plus side: I've managed to write fic in a new fandom. I'm not getting too excited about it, because I know myself and know that it won't last, but for the time being I'm indulging in a very nostalgic sort of crush:

The-Musketeers-BBC-image-the-musketeers-bbc-36536389-500-600
He does look very lickable, doesn't he?

Look, I don't think that The Musketeers is a brilliant show. In fact, I got bored halfway through and stopped watching - stunning visuals notwithstanding - but then I gave it a chance, watched it all in a marathon session and decided to revive a crush from 30 years ago, when Aramis used to look like this:

old school

Yeah, the new version is better. My ten-year-old self is weeping for the missed chance. Seriously, my ten-year-old self would so have loved to have had the new revamped Aramis to perv over. He has been specifically designed to appeal to my ten-year-old self's (and teenage self's) aesthetic requirements. And while my present-day self appreciates the visuals, it is not entirely overwhelmed by them. It's too sad.

But that didn't stop me from writing porn for him. And angst. Well, the angst is Marsac's, because Marsac is The Musketeers' verse's Sirius Black (which makes Aramis Remus Lupin, which explains a lot).

Title: Dance Macabre
Author: Donna Immaculata
Rating: Mature
Pairing: Aramis/Marsac
Word count: 4718
Warnings: Angst, Unhealthy Coping Mechanisms, Hand Jobs, Mutual Masturbation, PTSD, Miscommunication, Catholic Guilt, Death Wish
Summary: Meeting Aramis again after all those years sparks something within him back to life.

HP-Beholder fic: Arabella Figg/Dolores Umbridge, NC-17

HP Beholder, my favourite HP fic exchange ever, is over for good. I'm incredibly glad I decided to participate after all. I did dither for a while and, back in February, wrote: Now: do I sign up for this year's HP Beholder or not? It might give me the opportunity to write a sweet tale of underloved, underappreciated souls finding love. But knowing me, I would only end up writing a painful and awkward encounter between two unpleasant people who learn nothing from that experience.

Well, quite. I ended up writing an unpleasant encounter between two people, one of whom mercifully did learn something from it. Still, the whole thing did turn out pretty nasty:

Recipient: [livejournal.com profile] _hannelore
Author/Artist: [livejournal.com profile] donnaimmaculata
Title: By Theft or Force
Rating: NC-17
Pairings: Dolores Umbridge/Arabella Figg
Word Count: 7000
Medium: Fic
Warnings/Content Information (Highlight to View): Dolores Umbridge and all that this entails, i.e. *dub-con, implied use of date-rape drugs, manipulation, incredibly twee and sickening dirty talk*
Summary: The Muggle-born Registration Commission has decreed that magical powers stolen by Muggle-borns are to be retrieved and distributed among Squibs. Arabella finds herself on top of the list.
Author's/Artist's Notes: I hope you don’t mind the lack of romance, Hannelore! I did include the cats, though, to balance out the unpleasantness. I also must apologise for the language, it is unbearably cutesy. Dolores has infected my brain.

LGBTQ recs

Copying this from [livejournal.com profile] magnetic_pole, who is organising the LGBTQ month of recs again:

Enjoyed any queer- or trans-themed media recently? lgbtq_recs, an annual month-long comm to exchange recommendations for LGBTQ-themed stuff--books, TV, movies, graphic novels, websites, radio shows, podcasts, etc.--is running again this year throughout the month of June.

Stop by this year's sign-up post to get us started or scroll through previous years' master lists to get a sense of what folks have recced in the past. You can rec recent releases or older favorites, fiction or non-fiction, light entertainment or serious studies, whatever you'd like.

If you've never participated before, it's very informal and fun. Recs of all types of media are welcome, and you can write as much or as little as you want in the rec itself. If you can't think of anything to rec, just follow the comm for suggestions for new books, movies, etc.

Winter Companions fic: Tenth Doctor/Jack Harkness, NC-17

The [livejournal.com profile] wintercompanion exchange reveals are up, and I wrote a Ten/Jack fic for the hardworking, Jack-loving mod [livejournal.com profile] trobadora

Title: Down Memory Lane
Author: [livejournal.com profile] donnaimmaculata
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Jack/Tenth Doctor
Warnings: blatant plot devices (aka “force field” and “disappeared TARDIS”)
Summary: Jack remembers exactly how he met the Doctor. Then, timey-wimeyness happens.
Notes: The plot, such as it is, references Heribert Illig’s phantom time hypothesis, which postulates that 300 years of history have been made up, and the Paderborn Epic. The Time Agents in this scenario appear to be the roundworld equivalent of the History Monks. Make of this what you will.
Many, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fluffyllama for the beta and for – very appropriately – fixing my tenses!

HP Beholder and Winter Companions

April is almost over and I haven't posted anything this month. Therefore, have a couple of long overdue recs:

The HP Beholder is currently running, my favourite HP exchange of all times. And my gift fic is truly fabulous:

Author: ???
Title: No Charity
Rating: PG
Pairing: Aunt Marge/Rita Skeeter
Word Count: 3200
Warnings/Content: None
Summary: Rita sets out on a tough assignment – to interview Miss Marjorie Dursley.

To quote my own comment:

First and foremost, the pairing is inspired. I love the humour of the whole piece, I was grinning all the way through, despite the harsh mood swing brought about by the morning after confrontation. It might seem that their relationship is over even before it began, but this is not how it feels. It feels like the beginning of something, not the end.

The entire story is very Pratchett-esque in that it is a lighthearted humorous piece on the face of it. But just like in Pratchett's books, the humour mostly derives from your turn of phrase. Underneath, it is a poignant and melancholy character piece with a bittersweet ending, sketched very skilfully with only a few words. So much remains unsaid, lurking just outside our field of vision: the ongoing conflict between the magical and the Muggle world, Marjorie's deep trauma, Rita's attempt to leave herself behind and be somebody else.

This fic reads actually like a teaser, the prelude to a bigger story: you can tell that Rita and Marjorie would be a good match. They would fight constantly, but they would fight on equal terms.

Link to fic: No Charity

Today, I read a heartbreaking Aberforth/Severus fic, which pushes so many of my buttons it's unreal:

Author: ???
Title: A Lonely Road
Rating: R
Pairings: Severus Snape/Aberforth Dumbledore
Word Count: 4,800
Warnings/Content Information (Highlight to View): *anal intercourse, age disparity, angst, alcohol, violence towards an animal, reference to a canon death (Albus Dumbledore's)*.
Summary: Two men. Dark times. Conversations which fail to communicate; communication through silence.

Again, quoting my own comment:

Oh, this is exquisite! Such a tense, atmospheric tale, so very dark yet with tiny specks of light interspersed throughout. I love the pairing; I don't think I've ever read it before, which is odd, because it makes a lot of sense. Aberforth and Severus are both torn between and tortured by the love and resentment they have for Albus. Aberforth would be the one to guess what his brother is putting Snape through. The way they understand each other without talking about what is going on, the way they both understand the necessity of secrecy, it all rings very true.

The slow, understated understanding, Severus despair and loneliness, their affection for each other and for Albus - it's all heartbreaking. And the last line is the killer.

Link to fic: A Lonely Road

I also participated in this year's Winter Companions exchange, and here, too, I was gifted with a fantastic fic:

Title: A vignette from the 2nd hour of Dark on an unnamed station orbiting a dead zone planet.
Author: anonymous
Rating: NC-17
Pairing(s): Jack Harkness/Tenth Doctor
Spoilers/warnings: fetishistic self-harm, depression, knifeplay, mild drug use
Summary: Jack doesn't ask to go and the Doctor doesn't offer.

It's dark and needy and absolutely them. They are using the power of the vortex as their fetish, and it is exactly what I imagine Ten to get off on. And Jack, oh, desperate, damaged Jack. His need to feel good, whatever the cost, is palpable.

Porn Battle: Doctor Who, 10.2/Rose

The Porn Battle is on over at Dreamwidth, and I went and wrote a pairing that I actively dislike. This is new. Until now, I've written pairings that I like, and I've written pairings that I was curious about and wanted to try out, and I've written pairings that I'm indifferent about, but never one that I abhor.

Title: I was made for loving you, baby
Fandom: Doctor Who
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Doctor 10.2/Rose Tyler
Summary: Rose got what she wanted.
Word count: 2200
Notes:
1. Written for the Porn Battle (The Ides of Porn) for the following prompts: Doctor 10.2/Rose Tyler, Forever, sleeping in, on her knees, fantasy, need, engagement ring
2. Despite the title and the prompts, this is not a happy tale. It's an attempt to explore the mindboggling dysfunctionality of that pairing through the medium of sex. Because - why not?

I was made for loving you, baby on AO3.

Now: do I sign up for this year's HP Beholder or not? It might give me the opportunity to write a sweet tale of underloved, underappreciated souls finding love. But knowing me, I would only end up writing a painful and awkward encounter between two unpleasant people who learn nothing from that experience.

Trope Bingo fic/meta: Lessons Learned, a Blackpool/Broadchurch picspam

So, David Tennant, god bless him, continues to provide fannish inspiration. This is an idea that I've been toying with ever since I first watched Broadchurch last year. There are just so many parallels to Blackpool, I've never believed that DT has not realised it. Hence, it made perfect sense to be used for my metafiction/friends-to-lovers fic for the trope bingo challenge.

Edwardian public school boys

For fic-writing purposes, I need to learn as much as I can about everyday life in public schools in Edwardian England. Does anyone happen to have a link or a book recommendation handy? It would be most helpful and might result in porn.

My First Trope Bingo Card

I saw [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth post hers, and so I thought, Why not? I've never done a bingo challenge before. So here's my first bingo card ever:

holidayfic indecent proposal au: historical bets / wagers chosen family

SPACE
rites of passage / coming of age in vino veritas / drunkfic
metafiction locked in role reversal soul bonding / soulmates telepathy / mindmeld
friends to lovers / friends with benefits language and translation au: college / highschool trust and vows wingfic

Thank god I can do them all. I've never done wingfic before (or read one, for that matter), but because I like a challenge, I did not ask to exclude anything, even though I did briefly consider excluding wingfic. Or mpreg.

Let's see how it goes!

Fic: But the Loom of Life Never Stops, Remus Lupin/Severus Snape, NC-17

My second contribution to the [livejournal.com profile] lupin_snape exchange has been posted. The prompt was:

Not established relationship. R or NC-17. After the death of Dumbledore, R searches for S and for answers. He finds him in hiding and they argue, perhaps even fight, but end up in bed. Tenderness, not hate sex, comforting of mutual pain. In the morning, they must go their separate ways. Tone: bittersweet

A straightforward, old-fashioned hurt/comfort fic:

Title: But the Loom of Life Never Stops
Author: Donna Immaculata
Summary: After the death of Dumbledore, Remus tracks down Severus in hiding.
Rating: NC-17
Genre: angst, hurt/comfort
Word count: 8781
Notes: Title lifted from Henry Ward Beecher's Life Thoughts: "We sleep, but the loom of life never stops; and the pattern which was weaving when the sun went down is weaving when it comes up tomorrow."

But the Loom of Life Never Stops

My Remus, btw, has always looked like this - looong before David Tennant entered our lives and made them brighter:

Single Father 1x02[(023726)16-00-52]

Very thin, with a thin face and good hair that falls into his eyes (canon!), in his late 30s and not too old looking, definitely no moustache. No scars, either, because Harry would have commented on them. I will never forgive the films for what they did to Remus. David Tennant in the scene pictured above made me instantly think of Remus Lupin; there's a certain loneliness and melancholia that fits him well.

The Time of the Doctor

So, The Time of the Doctor. Peter Capaldi is here, and thank fuck for that. I never got into Matt Smith's Doctor, and I can get into everything Peter Capaldi does. Perhaps he'll help me enjoy Doctor Who again.

But all I want right now is a fic where Ten regenerates and Spoiler ) because of vanity issues. He could do it when Martha was there, and there'd be much rejoicing on her part (because to Martha his looks did matter), or when Donna was there and she can't believe it ("You like this scrawny thing?") or when Jack was there, and he would mock the Doctor mercilessly, but then the Doctor would still get a shag out of it.
