Yes, he is nice, isn't he, despite the loneliness and the secrecy and the goddamn bad luck of it all. He could be bitter, but he's not. And he has that dependable calm thing going on. The marauders would have disintegrated without him - the one you don't notice till he's gone.
And I love the bit in OotP when Harry is asking him and Sirius about Snape's worst memory and he is all 'I should have done a better job controlling my friends' etc which makes me want to cry every time I read it! *sniffles*
The rpg is the_leaky. I'm watching, because I'm not online often enough to rp and people would be hovering on the brinks of orgasms for hours and it wouldn't be fair. Jamie Bamber played Archie Kennedy (icon!) in Hornblower and I adore him.
