My new life as an LJ user has, in fact, its origins on January 1, 2002. On this day, I went to see 'Private Lives' with Alan Rickman and Lindsay Duncan, a play I liked well enough to search the Internet for a possible video or DVD release date. Instead of finding 'Private Lives', I stumbled across a Professor Snape fanpage, which led me quickly enough to the unexpected, thrilling world of SLASH.

Up to this memorable day, I was a rather indifferent Harry Potter reader. I liked Philosopher's Stone, yes, and I loved Remus Lupin, but I couldn't even be bothered to buy all four books; I would merely listen to Stephen Fry's soothing voice on the audiobooks - every now and then before falling asleep. SLASH changed it all. Here I was all of a sudden - a sociable, widely computer-ignorant woman of twenty-something - spending every waking-yet-not-working hour in front of the PC, combing the Internet for every piece of smut and romance I could find.

My initial amazement and excitement have long made way for a fully-fledged addiction, the logical consequence of which was my starting to write fanfiction myself. Getting an LJ (special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lea_ndra) to share my passion (not to say 'condition') with legions of people who understand has been the recent step in this development - but not the final one, I'm sure. I will learn all about computers and formatting, and I will have an own website! So Lord help me!

Welcome! My foray into slash wasn't as straight-forward as yours :-) I started reading and writing het, and while in the fandom I was in then there was also slash, I didn't read more than one or two stories. Velvet Goldmine really got me hooked on slash. I loved the film and I started reading VG slash. One day I had read all Curt/Arthur stories available and I was frantically searching for more (using goggle).

I found a story that was Qui-Gon/Curt, Obi-Wan/Curt, Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan hinted. I've been a Star Wars fan since I've been a little child. And thus a new addiction was born. I had found my fandom :-)

*huggles* glad you made it here.

Lea

Welcome home!!!

Donnaaa!!! So glad that you made your LJ! I love your icon btw! Welcome to being an active LJ member - it's addictive, I tell you *g* Don't worry, i'm sure you will master the internet skills and formating (personally, I haven't mastered it yet but hopes are high lol)

So to sum it up: *bounces* it's so great to have you here!

Hi Lea and Babycakes,

Wow, I never expected such quick reactions to my Very First Post! It was merely an experiment, to see whether it works at all... I'm leaving for the cinema now, but later tonight, I'll be learning everything about LJ tags, and then I can finally post the fics I haven't submitted anywhere else yet. BTW, Babycakes, I posted the Showerfantasy!Bill fic on the veelainc. Yahoo Group, and was amazed about how many people seemed to like it. Maybe writing smut is my true destiny, after all.
And, Lea, I have read plenty of het, too, before I finally decided to stick to slash in the first place *g*. But that's mainly due to my narrow specialisation: There are not many interesting female characters in the HP fandom, alas! (And there's only that many Snape/Hermione fics I can take.)
Oh, and: The icon is a Pierre & Giles picture. The face in the pic belongs to a man, but don't ask me to whom! I'd guess it's Marc Almond, but I'm pretty sure that's not true.
Thanks for your very warm welcome! I'm quite excited, facing the dawn of a new era in my life...

Well no wonder people liked the Showerfantasy!Bill!!! How did they react to Scabber's presence though? Oh I can't wait to see your other fics posted - especially the last one I BR with Sirius and Remus *sighs* they were so sweet together!

Pierre & Giles! that's it! Thanks so much, I have been looking for their name forever! You're my savior lol

PS: which movie did you see? Hope you enjoyed it - and once again: it's great to read you *g*

I loved it when a reader wrote that the part with Scabbers made her shiver... she loved the sickness of it, though. It'll only encourage me to indulge in sick concepts...
Yeah, Pierre & Giles are brilliant! I saved some of their pictures and intend using them as icons. They're so infinitely appropriate for slashy themes.
My last S/R fic is posted on the SR FQF. Have you checked it out yet? I'd highly recommend "Concerning Flying Lessons..." and "Reunion". Very, very nice takes on MWPP. The archive was updated today, and as soon as I finish typing tedious work, I will go there straightaway! I'd be reading the new fics already if I hadn't spent a considerable amount of time hanging around lazily and had started working sooner. I only went to the cinema tonight, because I preside it (it's the university cinema), and I have to show up from time to time to check on things and to do some work. Tonight's film was The Hours and I have seen it before, anyway. Do you know it? I haven't really got an opinion on it: it doesn't do anything for me, neither touches me nor annoys me in any way. Not a good sign, I suppose.

Yeah, I've seen The Hours - pretty depressing movie, I went for a cheer-me-up drink with my friends afterwards. I mostly forgot about it - not a good sign either lol

I'll have to check the SR FQF - thanks for the tip *g*
