Taking up the thread I posted 10 minutes ago: I'm also confused about why I'm seemingly unable to write nice, fluffy, comfy sex and instead force my characters (well, not my characters; JKR's characters) to endure situations I describe using phrases such as "awkward", and "somehow scary", and "vaguely uncomfortable", and "'Get off. I can't breathe.'" OK, I like realism. But does clumsy sex automatically imply realism?

(Memo to self: sketch draft for clumsy Tonks/Ginny slash) (Easy. Considering how unexperienced I am at writing femmeslash it can only turn out clumsy.)

Hell, since you're a SS/SB shipper you must have read [livejournal.com profile] fabularasa's stories, and goodness, she puts those boys through the wringer, doesn't she?

A lot of fluffy sex is written by people who have never actually had sex. I mean, I prefer to read about sex that isn't completely unpleasantly awkward and realistic. But the first time with the angels singing and everything working perfectly and happy happy and the boys all cry with joy just doesn't convince me.

Oh, I so know [livejournal.com profile] fabularasa's stories! *worships her*

What I tend to do is to write sex imperfect even though it's supposed to be good. You know, with hair getting trapped in the process of rolling around on the bed, and the boys having to use saliva as lube for wanking each other off... God, I only hope I don't die a sudden death and my family finds the texts on my harddisk!
