The VCR of Doom

My video recorder has taken over control. It's currently recording and won't let me switch it off. WTF?

I tried to stop, eject, reprogram... I tried unplugging! And yet, it's recording. (After I plugged back in, that is. I would be seriously worried if it worked without any power supply.) W!T!F!?

Can you tell I haven't been working on any fics lately? *spams flist with random RL info*

Have you tried exorcism? The good old Bell, Book and Candle routine? Possibly a sledgehammer?

Or have you considered that your VCR deserves its own life? Does it not have a right to do its own thing now and again?

Exorcism... now that's an idea. Completely useless, most likely, but might be fun. I only hope the video recorder won't start vomiting green goo, because that would rather scare me. (It doesn't help that I found 'The Ring' horribly effective.)

Because I feel the need to add my completely worthless suggestion, if it isn't an expensive VCR, I'd try unplugging it, grasping it firmly by the cord, and then swinging it around like hell. Or, on a more helpful note, have you tried seeing if any of the control buttons are stuck?

Swinging it around like hell sounds quite as much fun as the exorcism fleshdress suggested. The buttons seem to be working all right - besides, it completely ignored the remote control, too. It's a mystery.
