I am such a lame fangirl, like, OMG!

So, I have been out of touch with the fandom for more than one month (for a variety of reasons, one of which is my continuous Internet problem), haven't read or written anything HP (and therefore missed some deadlines), haven't read LJ at all and haven't seen the movie yet. Now it's Saturday night and I haven't got any other plans, so I suppose I could go and watch PoA (in case it's screened in English; I am not going to endure the torture that is Alan Rickman's German voice), but I would have to go on my own. I could, however, be going next week with a friend, who (in spite of being male and not a slasher) has got a very keen slashdar and would be fun to watch HP with. (Come to think of it, all men I've been to see LOTR, X-Men, Troy etc. with do see the omnipresent gayness on screen. It's not only the skewed point of view of a slash-loving female; the gay vibes are actually there.) Decisions, decisions...

Date: 2004-06-05 09:59 am (UTC)Alan Rickman's German voice is positively squeaky. I don't know what they've been thinking... (So is Daniel Radcliffe's, BTW. He's got a child's voice, not a teenager's. It's scary, and a good reason to not watch the dubbed versions of the films.)

Date: 2004-06-05 12:37 pm (UTC)The old one or the new one? (Cos the guy who dubbed him in the first two movies died some time ago..) Either way, DO NOT WATCH IT IN GERMAN!!!!
I did, but I had no choice. Not really anyways. (It was a press screening and I was desperate to see the film..) Harry's German voice isn't even that horrible, what's really bad is Ron's voice. (Hagrid's is *perfect* though. You'd think it's Robbie Coltrane himself..) Ohhh and so much atmosphere gets lost in the dubbed version, I was so depressed after I'd seen the film for the first time.. I thought it had ruined the film for me forever.. (I'm glad it didn't. Two days later I went to see it in English and ahhhh..!!! YEAH! There's A LOT to criticise about it, really A LOT, but I still liked it.)
Won't spoil anything, just wanted to say: Thewlis is GREAT!!! TEH perfect Canon!Lupin! (I could already tell that while watching the German version, by the pictures alone.. he's fantastic..).

Date: 2004-06-05 01:37 pm (UTC)Having read so many PoA movie spoilers, I am curious to see Thewlis. Unfortunately, as he so doesn't look like my Lupin, I would have preferred he wouldn't act like Lupin, either. I want my picture of Lupin-in-his-entirety unspoiled!

Date: 2004-06-06 04:59 am (UTC)No PoA, since they don't show the original version until tomorrow night. Gotta make appointments to go and see it now...

Re POA: I´m determinded to see the English version tomorrow, even if I have to go on my own. I´ll try to get hold of a friend tonight, but if she´s busy, too bad. There´s no way I´d watch the German version, the trailer alone was enough to last me for a lifetime.
Let us know what you thought of it, ok?

Date: 2004-06-06 05:03 am (UTC)I'm going to see the English version tomorrow, too. We can compare notes afterwards. The German trailer was quite traumatic - what the hell are they doing to the voices? (I've only seen it once, and never on the big screen, but it was enough.)
