I feel a deep need for cross-gen fics where the younger partner hits on the older one and gets rejected. Not because the older one gets all angsty and But-I'm-Old-Enough-To-Be-Your-Father and But-Your-Father-Was-My-Best-Friend, but because of a healthy, natural WTF reaction. I want the older man act older, in control and confident and not to be entirely overwhelmed by the attentions of a handful of young needy flesh. Sort of the absolute opposite of h/c Snarry fics with a dominant Harry and an angsty Snape.

I discussed my attitute towards cross-gen on another occasion. It just doesn't do it for me. I want the older partner to be aware of what's going on, look right through the kid's game and, possibly, be mildly amused about it. I want to see Snape laugh at Harry when Harry throws himself at him, not fuck him senseless to 'punish' him. I want Remus to frown and smile and talk Harry gently out of it (chocolate optionally). I want Sirius to overcome the shock of being kissed by his godson, seat Harry down and tell him that in spite of everything Molly Weasley thinks about him, he is well aware of Harry not being James.

Off the top of my head, I can think of three fics that fulfil these criteria:

[livejournal.com profile] dehkla's Harry/Sirius (Harry/Padfoot) ficlet; NC-17; warning: bestiality;

my own Remus/Draco fic; R; warning: frottage;

and, owing to my recent foray into RPS, Lassiter's Brad Pitt/Orlando Bloom fic; PG-13

Why?

It seemed that with every mouthful of wine, Orlando's limbs grew longer, and that he took up more of the booth without really moving at all. Brad knew it was a display for his benefit and he just watched, amused, daresay entertained and, sitting back, subtly parried. Orlando wasn't the only one with presence in the room.

Hell, yes! That's the reaction I want to see!

Any chance for being pointed? Anyone? Bueller?

ok, let me just say that, being rather new to the fandom, i'm usually shy to rec because i keep thinking that all these fics that are new to me might well have been read a long time ago by everyone else...

but, if by some odd chance you have in fact not read [livejournal.com profile] fabularasa's "misericorde" (http://fabularasa.arithmancy.net/misericorde.html), i really think it's a great fit for what you've described.

if i had to pick the perfect anti-cross-gen story, this would probably be it. it's a strikingly vivid pertrayal of harry, too... not to mention the fact some parts of the story are rather damn hot, but that's beside the point.

...again, since this isn't exactly a brand new fic or anything, there's a clear chance you've read it already. but if you haven't, do. really.

Heh! Thanks a lot for commenting! I assume from your rec and your comment on the Snack drabble that you like Snape/Black, and there cannot be enough Snape/Black supporters in the fandom.

I have read Misericorde. You're right, Harry gets rejected by Snape there. Maybe I should re-read it at some point.

Reccing older fics is a Very Good Thing, by the way, because due to the overwhelming amount of new stories, you tend to forget the older ones anyway. Seeing them recced reminds you of how much you liked the story, and you go back and read it again, and, possibly, send the author feedback. And everyone's happy ;-)

hear, hear! it's always so sad to follow a less popular pairing and see how little attention it gets compared to the big ones, isn't it?

you're right, i am indeed a supporter. it's my very firstest slash OTP, even. exciting, no?

anyway, i'm glad i got to remind you of a story you once enjoyed, even if i didn't end up pointing you toward anything new. you're right, i guess old recs can be just as good much of the time.

it's my very firstest slash OTP, even.

Mine too. Snape/Black was the first pairing I've ever read, and it's still what I'd call my OTP, even though I wrote only one Snape/Black fic so far.

i actually stumbled onto it almost by accident. i used to sorta ship snape/james (though not in an OTP way, more like just a casual interest) -- the one ship i was actually commited to in this fandom, and the reason i started reading HP fic in the first place, was draco/hermione. (which i still love.)

but, then, see, after going to see PoA, this nagging curiocity of what snape and sirius together might look like wouldn't leave my mind. so i did a google search for some fic... and then, before i knew it, it was all "dude! how did i not realize what an amazing pairing this was?!"

i've actually read and enjoyed slash before, just never really been all that commited to any slash ships -- all my OTPs have been het. it kinda makes this ship all the more dear to my heart, i think, the fact that's a first.

Heh! I stumbled across it by accident, too. I was looking for some Alan Rickman info, ended up on a Professor Snape fansite, and was confronted with the theory that the hatred between him and Sirius really was sizzling lust. The rest is history.

There's an LJ community devoted to Snape/Black, [Unknown site tag]. It's not very active, unfortunately, but there are some good writers around. [livejournal.com profile] moshes, one of my favourite authors, has just posted a fic. I haven't read it yet, but I like her Snape/Black stuff a lot. If you haven't read it, you might want to check it out.

oh, thanks, i'd love to take a look at it! i mean, not right this minute, because i'm supposed to *cough* be doing graphic design homework... but i'll definitely mark it for later.

*continues to blatantly procrastinate*

so, out of curiosity, were you in any fandoms before harry potter?

No, I wasn't. HP is my first and main fandom, but I've started reading in other fandoms recently. One day, I might also write.
