So I'm only at Chapter 5, and already I had my first moment of major squee.
Well, no, actually my first first moment of squee was back in Chapter 1, with the Death Eater Conference (Though why in Malfoy Manor? Isn't that a bit obvious? Well, never mind.) and the Malfoys being all intimidated and Snape being excellently cool. - Oh, and of course The Dursleys Departing, and Big D saying "I love you" to Harry, in that fantastically boyish, awkward way. I want Big D to come back at some point!
But anyway: SQUEE!
Remus! Ah, Remus! Harry compares Remus to the sneering Hufflepuff Zacharias Smith! Remus grabs him "none too gently"! Remus makes him feel foolish! This is exactly what I've been waiting for all these years.
Seriously, this little scene shows exactly where my!Remus comes from - the Remus I've discussed at length plenty of times. Remus is only sweet and polite and comfy when there is no need to be otherwise. In the face of danger, as soon as he springs into action, he is cool, efficient, calculating and also - unexpectedly - cruel. That's my boy!
When I started to read the book this morning, I thought I wouldn't care much if Remus died, as my love for him had lost its fervour. And anyway, he's a married man now. - But a few lines sufficed to make me change my mind completely. My love for Remus is back in full swing now. Please don't let him die.
I'm not reading my f-list until after I finished the book (which will be late tonight, I suppose). I have stayed away from any HP contents for the last three weeks or so and I'm entirely unspoiled, even for the most minor of things, and I plan to remain so. So, see you on the other side, then.
